Ghee Price in Italy (CIF) - 2023

In June 2023, the average ghee import price amounted to $6,274 per ton, declining by -3% against the previous month. In general, the import price showed a pronounced downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in September 2022 an increase of 4.1% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $8,698 per ton in June 2022; however, from July 2022 to June 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices from Cyprus ($6,649 per ton) and France ($6,638 per ton), while the price for Belgium ($5,171 per ton) and the UK ($6,255 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (-0.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

Ghee Price in Italy (FOB) - 2023

In June 2023, the average ghee export price amounted to $13,526 per ton, increasing by 75% against the previous month. Overall, export price indicated a measured expansion from June 2022 to June 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +3.4% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on June 2023 figures, ghee export price increased by +75.3% against May 2023 indices. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($41,847 per ton), while the average price for exports to Belgium ($8,626 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Croatia (+16.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Ghee Imports in Italy

In 2022, the amount of ghee imported into Italy expanded remarkably to 36K tons, increasing by 5.8% against 2021 figures. Overall, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 13% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

In value terms, ghee imports soared to $288M in 2022. In general, imports showed a prominent increase. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Ghee Exports in Italy

In 2022, the amount of ghee exported from Italy contracted rapidly to 1.1K tons, which is down by -42.1% on the previous year. Overall, exports recorded a abrupt shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 48% against the previous year.
