Ghee Market Size in Italy

After two years of growth, the Italian ghee market decreased by -X% to $X in 2019. Overall, the total consumption indicated a slight increase from 2007 to 2019: its value increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last twelve years. The average ghee export price stood at $X per tonne in 2019, reducing by -X% against the previous year. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a slight decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average export prices hit record highs at $X per tonne in 2008; however, from 2009 to 2019, export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination; the country with the highest price was Belgium ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to France ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2019, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Belgium, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

In 2019, supplies from abroad of ghee increased by X% to X tonnes, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the period from 2007 to 2019; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by X% year-to-year. Imports peaked in 2019 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

In value terms, ghee imports contracted remarkably to $X in 2019. Overall, total imports indicated a modest expansion from 2007 to 2019: its value increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last twelve years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2019 figures, imports increased by +X% against 2016 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2010 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2018, and then contracted dramatically in the following year.

The Netherlands (X tonnes), Spain (X tonnes) and the UK (X tonnes) were the main suppliers of ghee imports to Italy, together accounting for X% of total imports.

The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when the average import price increased by X% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per tonne in 2018, and then plummeted in the following year.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2019, the highest prices were recorded for prices from Belgium ($X per tonne) and the UK ($X per tonne), while the price for Spain ($X per tonne) and the Netherlands ($X per tonne) were amongst the lowest.
