The average date export price stood at $2,631 per ton in July 2023, growing by 36% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, saw a abrupt decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in February 2023 an increase of 127% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $7,143 per ton in July 2022; however, from August 2022 to July 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was France ($6,688 per ton), while the average price for exports to Botswana ($1,284 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Turkey (+20.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average date import price amounted to $1,606 per ton, shrinking by -20.5% against the previous year. In general, the import price showed a mild curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 92%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $3,615 per ton.
