Israel dominates in the global date trade. In 2014, Israel exported 65 thousand tonnes of dates totaling 151 million USD, 14% over the previous year. Its primary trading partner on the global date market was the Netherlands, where it supplied 19% of its total date exports in value terms, accounting for the lion's share of Netherlands's total imports.

From 2007 to 2014, Israel was a net exporter of dates. Over this period, exports consistently exceeded imports in value terms. However, in physical terms, the difference was less pronounced.

Pakistan and the U.S. were among the other main global suppliers of dates in 2014. However, the fastest growing exporters from 2007 to 2014 were Egypt (+48% per year) and the Netherlands (+18% per year). Israel strengthened its position in the global export structure.

In 2014, Israel's top 5 trading partners were the Netherlands, France, the United Kingdom, Turkey and Spain, with a combined 68% share of Israel's date exports. The share of the Netherlands increased (+9 percentage points), while the share of the United Kingdom illustrated negative dynamics (-10 percentage points).
