Which Country Exports the Most Dates in the World?

Global date exports amounted to 1,275 thousand tonnes in 2015, picking up by +24.4% against the previous year level. Overall, the global date exports indicated a pronounced growth from 2007 to 2015. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% over the last eight years.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2012, when the output figure increased by +61% from the previous year level. Over the period under review, the global date exports reached its maximum volume in 2015, and is likely to continue its growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, global exports amounted to $1,054 million in 2015. Overall, the value of global exports increased tangibly from 2007 to 2015, expanding at an average annual rate of +10.0%. This trend pattern, however, indicated relatively mild fluctuations throughout the analyzed period.

Date Imports By Country

The country with the largest volume of the date exports in absolute volumes was the United Arab Emirates (310 thousand tonnes), accounting for 24% of global exports. It was followed by Pakistan (131 thousand tonnes), with a share of 10% of global exports. Moreover, date exports in the United Arab Emirates exceeded the figures recorded by the world's second largest exporter, Pakistan, twofold. The third position in this ranking was occupied by Saudi Arabia with a share of 9%.

From 2007 to 2015, an average annual growth rate of date exports in the United Arab Emirates stood at +3.6%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual growth rates: Pakistan (+3.7% per year) and Saudi Arabia (+14.3% per year).

In value terms, Tunisia (227 million USD), the United Arab Emirates (172 million USD) and Israel (139 million USD) were the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2015, together accounting for 51% of total exports.

Saudi Arabia (+17.3% per year) had the highest growth rates of date exports among the main exporting countries over the last eight years, while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
