Cotton Lint Price in Uzbekistan (FOB) - 2022

The average cotton lint export price stood at $2,291 per ton in 2022, growing by 24% against the previous year. Over the last five-year period, it increased at an average annual rate of +6.0%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the average export price increased by 25%. The export price peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Iran ($2,316 per ton), while the average price for exports to Russia amounted to $1,753 per ton.

From 2017 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Russia (+3.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Cotton Lint Price in Uzbekistan (CIF) - 2022

The average cotton lint import price stood at $2,623 per ton in 2022, picking up by 32% against the previous year. Overall, the import price posted a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the average import price increased by 42% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the highest price was recorded for prices from Kyrgyzstan ($2,904 per ton) and Tajikistan ($2,660 per ton), while the price for Afghanistan ($2,366 per ton) and Kazakhstan ($2,473 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From 2017 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kazakhstan (+27.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Cotton Lint Exports in Uzbekistan

For the third year in a row, Uzbekistan recorded decline in shipments abroad of cotton lint, which decreased by -97.9% to 1.5K tons in 2022. Overall, exports recorded a dramatic descent. The smallest decline of -25.9% was in 2021.

In value terms, cotton lint exports plummeted to $3.5M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports showed a sharp contraction. The smallest decline of -7.3% was in 2021.
