Citrus Fruit Price in Greece (FOB) - 2022

The average citrus fruit export price stood at $613 per ton in 2022, surging by 2.4% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.6%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 15% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Poland ($783 per ton), while the average price for exports to Albania ($242 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Poland (+3.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Citrus Fruit Price in Greece (CIF) - 2022

The average citrus fruit import price stood at $972 per ton in 2022, with a decrease of -14.4% against the previous year. In general, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 an increase of 27%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $1,308 per ton. From 2017 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Israel ($1,599 per ton), while the price for Egypt ($477 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Israel (+3.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas shipments of citrus fruits, when their volume decreased by -13.3% to 418K tons. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.9% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 18%.

In value terms, citrus fruit exports reduced to $257M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +7.9% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 36%.
