Cigars and Cigarillos Price in China (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average cigars and cigarillos import price amounted to $299,180 per ton, rising by 25% against the previous year. In general, the import price posted a prominent increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when the average import price increased by 75%. The import price peaked in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($859,474 per ton), while the price for Switzerland ($127,359 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+18.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average cigars and cigarillos export price amounted to $28,934 per ton, declining by -5.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 an increase of 89% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $111,294 per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Australia ($190,908 per ton), while the average price for exports to France ($656 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Spain (+5.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

After two years of decline, supplies from abroad of cigars, cheroots and cigarillos increased by 1.3% to 33 tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a abrupt curtailment.
In value terms, cigars and cigarillos imports skyrocketed to $9.8M in 2022. In general, imports, however, saw a abrupt slump.

Cigars and Cigarillos Exports in China

In general, total exports indicated tangible growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.1% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports decreased by -25.6% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 43% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 177 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, cigars and cigarillos exports rose markedly to $3.8M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +8.3% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 10%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
