Unmanufactured Tobacco Price in Oman (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average unmanufactured tobacco export price amounted to $3,437 per ton, waning by -4.4% against the previous year. Overall, export price indicated a measured expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, unmanufactured tobacco export price increased by +87.5% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the average export price increased by 48%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $3,595 per ton in 2021, and then reduced modestly in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Qatar ($5,742 per ton), while the average price for exports to Somalia ($833 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Qatar (+10.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Unmanufactured Tobacco Price in Oman (CIF) - 2022
The average unmanufactured tobacco import price stood at $3,296 per ton in 2022, dropping by -4% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, posted a pronounced expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 884% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $4,484 per ton. From 2018 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($4,873 per ton), while the price for India ($2,592 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by India (+2.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Unmanufactured Tobacco Exports in Oman
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas shipments of tobacco (unmanufactured), when their volume decreased by -22.4% to 713 tons. In general, exports, however, showed buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 78%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 918 tons, and then dropped significantly in the following year.
In value terms, unmanufactured tobacco exports reduced remarkably to $2.5M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, posted a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 106% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $3.3M, and then reduced remarkably in the following year.

In 2022, purchases abroad of tobacco (unmanufactured) decreased by -3% to 158 tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Overall, total imports indicated a resilient increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +17.0% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +60.3% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 54%.
In value terms, unmanufactured tobacco imports shrank to $520K in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated buoyant growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +18.7% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +67.1% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 55% against the previous year.
