Areca Nut Price in Singapore (FOB) - 2022
The average areca nut export price stood at $1,794 per ton in September 2022, waning by -9.7% against the previous month. In general, the export price continues to indicate a mild contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in December 2021 when the average export price increased by 63% m-o-m. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $3,334 per ton. From January 2022 to September 2022, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major foreign markets. In September 2022, the countries with the highest prices were Sri Lanka ($1,859 per ton) and Colombia ($1,678 per ton), while the average price for exports to the United Arab Emirates ($1,267 per ton) and Bangladesh ($1,497 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From September 2021 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Sri Lanka (+3.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
