Groundnuts Production in Chad - 2022
In 2022, production of ground-nut (in-shell) was finally on the rise to reach 819K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year declining trend. Over the period under review, production, however, continues to indicate a mild shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when the production volume increased by 2.7% against the previous year. As a result, production attained the peak volume of 894K tons. From 2019 to 2022, production growth remained at a lower figure. Groundnuts output in Chad indicated a slight slump, which was largely conditioned by a mild descent of the harvested area and a relatively flat trend pattern in yield figures.
In value terms, groundnuts production rose rapidly to $597M in 2022 estimated in export price. Overall, production, however, recorded a noticeable reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the production volume increased by 54%. As a result, production attained the peak level of $1.2B. From 2019 to 2022, production growth failed to regain momentum.
Groundnuts Harvested Area in Chad - 2022
In 2022, the harvested area of ground-nut (in-shell) in Chad reached 756K ha, leveling off at the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, the harvested area, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when the harvested area increased by 2.5%. As a result, the harvested area attained the peak level of 787K ha. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of the groundnuts harvested area failed to regain momentum.
Groundnuts Yield in Chad - 2022
In 2022, the average yield of ground-nut (in-shell) in Chad expanded slightly to 1.1 tons per ha, with an increase of 2.4% compared with the previous year. Overall, the yield, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The groundnuts yield peaked at 1.1 tons per ha in 2018; afterwards, it flattened through to 2022.
