Which Country Imports the Most Honey in the World?
Global honey imports amounted to 656 thousand tonnes in 2015, rising by +5.3% against the previous year level. Overall, the global honey imports indicated a pronounced growth from 2007 to 2015. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.7% over the last eight years.

In value terms, global honey imports amounted to $2,230 million in 2015. Overall, the value of global honey imports increased robustly from 2007 to 2015, expanding at an average annual rate of +11.9%. This trend pattern, however, indicated relatively mild fluctuations throughout the analyzed period.

Honey Imports By Country
The country with the largest volume of the honey imports in absolute volumes was the United States (175 thousand tonnes), accounting for 27% of global imports. It was followed by Germany (87 thousand tonnes), with a share of 13% of global imports. Moreover, honey imports in the United States exceeded the figures recorded by the world's second largest importer, Germany (87 thousand tonnes), twofold. The third position in this ranking was occupied by the United Kingdom with a share of 6%.
From 2007 to 2015, an average annual growth rate of honey imports in the United States stood at +6.6%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual growth rates: Germany (-1.0% per year) and the United Kingdom (+3.9% per year).
In value terms, the United States (605 million USD), Germany (325 million USD) and the United Kingdom (131 million USD) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2015, together accounting for 48% of total imports.
Belgium (+20.7% per year) had the highest growth rates of honey imports among the main importing countries over the last eight years, while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
