The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 54%. Over the period under review, production reached the maximum level at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, production failed to regain momentum.

In 2021, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in overseas shipments of unsaturated acyclic hydrocarbons, when their volume increased by 210% to X tons. In general, exports enjoyed a moderate increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when exports increased by 315% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, unsaturated acyclic hydrocarbons exports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, exports posted notable growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when exports increased by 1,487% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.

Exports by Country

The United Arab Emirates (X kg) was the main destination for unsaturated acyclic hydrocarbons exports from Ukraine, accounting for a 56% share of total exports. Moreover, unsaturated acyclic hydrocarbons exports to the United Arab Emirates exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Latvia (X kg), threefold. The third position in this ranking was held by the United States (X kg), with a 17% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to the United Arab Emirates was relatively modest. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Latvia (+45.5% per year) and the United States (+180.2% per year).

In value terms, Latvia ($X), the United States ($X) and Armenia ($X) were the largest markets for unsaturated acyclic hydrocarbons exported from Ukraine worldwide, with a combined 69% share of total exports.

The United States, with a CAGR of +325.4%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the average unsaturated acyclic hydrocarbons export price amounted to $X per ton, shrinking by -7.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, enjoyed a mild expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the average export price increased by 282% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2017 to 2021, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Armenia ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to the United Arab Emirates ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+51.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Imports into Ukraine

In 2021, purchases abroad of unsaturated acyclic hydrocarbons increased by 63% to X tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. In general, imports saw a slight expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 528% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in the near future.

In value terms, unsaturated acyclic hydrocarbons imports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a perceptible downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 501%. Imports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2021, Qatar (X tons) was the main unsaturated acyclic hydrocarbons supplier to Ukraine, accounting for a 96% share of total imports. Moreover, unsaturated acyclic hydrocarbons imports from Qatar exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Belgium (X tons), more than tenfold.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Qatar totaled +5.1%.

In value terms, Qatar ($X) constituted the largest supplier of unsaturated acyclic hydrocarbons to Ukraine, comprising 95% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Belgium ($X), with a 3.7% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Qatar totaled -1.0%.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the average unsaturated acyclic hydrocarbons import price amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 16% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a pronounced shrinkage. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Qatar ($X per ton), while the price for Belgium stood at $X per ton.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Russia (+5.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
