Pistachio Market Size in the Russian Federation

Belarus (X tonnes) was the main destination for pistachio exports from Russia, with a X% share of total exports. Moreover, pistachio exports to Belarus exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Saudi Arabia (X tonnes), sevenfold. Armenia (X tonnes) ranked third in terms of total exports with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2018, the average annual growth rate of volume to Belarus stood at +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Saudi Arabia (X% per year) and Armenia (X% per year).

In value terms, Belarus ($X) remains the key foreign market for pistachio exports from Russia, comprising X% of total pistachio exports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Saudi Arabia ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by Mongolia, with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2018, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Belarus stood at +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Saudi Arabia (X% per year) and Mongolia (-X% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2018, the average pistachio export price amounted to $X per tonne, going down by -X% against the previous year. In general, the pistachio export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when the average export price increased by X% against the previous year. In that year, the average export prices for pistachios reached their peak level of $X per tonne. From 2014 to 2018, the growth in terms of the average export prices for pistachios failed to regain its momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2018, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Armenia ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Kazakhstan, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into the Russian Federation

In 2018, the pistachio imports into Russia stood at X tonnes, increasing by X% against the previous year. In general, pistachio imports, however, continue to indicate a drastic descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tonnes in 2007; however, from 2008 to 2018, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, pistachio imports stood at $X in 2018. Over the period under review, pistachio imports, however, continue to indicate an abrupt downturn.
