In value terms, the largest way-type unit head supplying countries in MERCOSUR were Chile ($X), Colombia ($X) and Brazil ($X), with a combined 82% share of total exports. Argentina, Peru and Venezuela lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 13%.

Argentina, with a CAGR of +46.5%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The export price in MERCOSUR stood at $X per ton in 2021, growing by 2.8% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a pronounced descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the export price increased by 256%. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Argentina ($X per ton), while Venezuela ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Colombia (+10.3%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, after three years of decline, there was significant growth in supplies from abroad of way-type unit heads for working metal, when their volume increased by 16% to X tons. In general, imports, however, recorded a deep contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 124% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, way-type unit head imports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a deep downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 34%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
