The growth pace was the most rapid in 2008 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, exports attained the peak figure in 2020 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.

Germany (X tonnes) was the main destination for tomato puree exports from Italy, with a X% share of total exports. Moreover, tomato puree exports to Germany exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, France (X tonnes), threefold. In 2020, the average tomato puree export price amounted to $X per tonne, surging by X% against the previous year. In general, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2008 when the average export price increased by X% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per tonne in 2009; however, from 2010 to 2020, export prices failed to regain the momentum.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2011 when imports increased by X% y-o-y. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tonnes. from 2012 to 2020, the growth imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, tomato puree imports rose notably to $X in 2020. Overall, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2008 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2009; however, from 2010 to 2020, imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2020, China (X tonnes) constituted the largest tomato puree supplier to Italy, with a X% share of total imports. Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2020, the countries with the highest prices were Chile ($X per tonne) and Egypt ($X per tonne), while the price for France ($X per tonne) and the United States ($X per tonne) were amongst the lowest.
