Total imports indicated a remarkable increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +62.4% against 2017 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 20% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.

In 2022, Germany (X tons), distantly followed by Italy (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons), France (X tons), Poland (X tons) and Spain (X tons) represented the key importers of tomato puree and paste, together creating 76% of total imports. The following importers - Belgium (X tons), Austria (X tons), Sweden (X tons), Romania (X tons) and the Czech Republic (X tons) - together made up 15% of total imports.
