Romania (X units) was the main destination for bedspread exports from Hungary, accounting for a 46% share of total exports. Moreover, bedspread exports to Romania exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Slovakia (X units), fivefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Poland (X units), with an 8.7% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Romania amounted to +72.8%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Slovakia (+27.0% per year) and Poland (+89.4% per year).
In value terms, Romania ($X) remains the key foreign market for bedspread exports from Hungary, comprising 47% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Poland ($X), with an 18% share of total exports. It was followed by Slovakia, with a 7.7% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Romania stood at +83.3%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Poland (+99.9% per year) and Slovakia (+24.1% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the average bedspread export price amounted to $X per unit, with an increase of 7.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a perceptible decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 60% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2016 to 2021, the the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Poland ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Iraq ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Bulgaria (+23.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Hungary
In 2021, purchases abroad of bedspreads (excluding eiderdowns) decreased by -37.9% to X units, falling for the second consecutive year after four years of growth. Over the period under review, imports, however, posted resilient growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when imports increased by 154%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units. From 2020 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, bedspread imports contracted notably to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, saw a resilient increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 95%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2020 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, China (X units) constituted the largest supplier of bedspread to Hungary, with a 67% share of total imports. Moreover, bedspread imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Poland (X units), fivefold. Germany (X units) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 5.8% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from China totaled +79.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Poland (-0.9% per year) and Germany (+11.0% per year).
In value terms, China ($X), Poland ($X) and Germany ($X) constituted the largest bedspread suppliers to Hungary, together accounting for 75% of total imports.
China, with a CAGR of +56.7%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The average bedspread import price stood at $X per unit in 2021, with an increase of 22% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a noticeable reduction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when the average import price increased by 33%. The import price peaked at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Turkey ($X per unit), while the price for China ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (+17.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
