In 2021, the amount of bedspreads (excluding eiderdowns) exported from the United States skyrocketed to X units, rising by 26% against the previous year. Overall, exports, however, recorded a drastic downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by 113%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, bedspread exports reached $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a abrupt shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by 74% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
Canada (X units) was the main destination for bedspread exports from the United States, accounting for a 45% share of total exports. Moreover, bedspread exports to Canada exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Honduras (X units), twofold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Mexico (X units), with a 9.1% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Canada totaled +5.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Honduras (+61.8% per year) and Mexico (-34.4% per year).
In value terms, Canada ($X) remains the key foreign market for bedspread exports from the United States, comprising 47% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Mexico ($X), with a 15% share of total exports. It was followed by Honduras, with an 8.4% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Canada amounted to +8.3%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Mexico (-24.0% per year) and Honduras (+51.2% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the average bedspread export price amounted to $X per unit, dropping by -11.5% against the previous year. In general, export price indicated a buoyant expansion from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +6.7% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, bedspread export price increased by +79.8% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 103%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit, and then shrank in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Cayman Islands ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Syrian Arab Republic ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Mexico (+15.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Bedspread Imports
Imports into the U.S.
In 2021, approx. X units of bedspreads (excluding eiderdowns) were imported into the United States; rising by 6.2% on the previous year's figure. In general, total imports indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.9% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +32.1% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 24%. Imports peaked in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.
In value terms, bedspread imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a resilient expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.6% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +77.1% against 2012 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
China (X units), India (X units) and Pakistan (X units) were the main suppliers of bedspread imports to the United States, together comprising 96% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by India (with a CAGR of +13.7%), while imports for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.
In value terms, the largest bedspread suppliers to the United States were China ($X), India ($X) and Portugal ($X), with a combined 85% share of total imports.
India, with a CAGR of +11.8%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The import price peaked at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Portugal ($X per unit), while the price for China ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
