The U.S. bedspread market expanded slightly to $X in 2021, rising by 4.7% against the previous year. The market value increased at an average annual rate of +1.0% over the period from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. Over the period under review, the market attained the peak level at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, consumption failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, bedspread production expanded modestly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, production saw a relatively flat trend pattern. Overall, exports, however, recorded a drastic downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by 113%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, bedspread exports reached $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a abrupt shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by 74% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

Canada (X units) was the main destination for bedspread exports from the United States, accounting for a 45% share of total exports. Moreover, bedspread exports to Canada exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Honduras (X units), twofold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Mexico (X units), with a 9.1% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Canada totaled +5.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Honduras (+61.8% per year) and Mexico (-34.4% per year).

In value terms, Canada ($X) remains the key foreign market for bedspread exports from the United States, comprising 47% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Mexico ($X), with a 15% share of total exports. It was followed by Honduras, with an 8.4% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Canada amounted to +8.3%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Mexico (-24.0% per year) and Honduras (+51.2% per year).

In 2021, the average bedspread export price amounted to $X per unit, dropping by -11.5% against the previous year. In general, export price indicated a buoyant expansion from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +6.7% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Imports into the U.S.

In 2021, approx. X units of bedspreads (excluding eiderdowns) were imported into the United States; rising by 6.2% on the previous year's figure. In general, total imports indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.9% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +32.1% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 24%. Imports peaked in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.

As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
