The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when exports increased by 49% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X units in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, wood drilling machine exports expanded notably to $X in 2021. Total exports indicated a measured expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.9% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports decreased by -6.6% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 26% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2021, the Netherlands (X units) was the main exporter of drilling or morticing machines, constituting 34% of total exports. Italy (X units) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Hungary (X units), Spain (X units), Poland (X units), Belgium (X units) and the Czech Republic (X units). All these countries together held approx. 47% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to wood drilling machine exports from the Netherlands stood at +30.5%. At the same time, Spain (+30.8%), the Czech Republic (+26.7%), Poland (+16.5%), Hungary (+10.7%) and Belgium (+9.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. In value terms, Italy ($X) remains the largest wood drilling machine supplier in the European Union, comprising 59% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Belgium ($X), with a 0.5% share of total exports. It was followed by Poland, with a 0.3% share.
In Italy, wood drilling machine exports increased at an average annual rate of +4.0% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Belgium (+2.5% per year) and Poland (-1.5% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in the European Union stood at $X per unit in 2021, with an increase of 36% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 58% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($X per unit), while the Netherlands ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+6.8%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

In 2021, overseas purchases of drilling or morticing machines decreased by -40.4% to X units, falling for the second consecutive year after five years of growth. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a mild expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when imports increased by 105%. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, wood drilling machine imports soared to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated a resilient increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.0% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when imports increased by 37% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
The countries with the highest levels of wood drilling machine imports in 2021 were Poland (X units), France (X units), Spain (X units), Sweden (X units), the Czech Republic (X units), the Netherlands (X units), Cyprus (X units), Germany (X units), Belgium (X units), Austria (X units), Portugal (X units) and Greece (X units), together reaching 90% of total import.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Cyprus (with a CAGR of +87.5%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest wood drilling machine importing markets in the European Union were Poland ($X), France ($X) and Germany ($X), together comprising 48% of total imports. These countries were followed by Belgium, Spain, Austria, Sweden, the Czech Republic, Portugal, the Netherlands, Greece and Cyprus, which together accounted for a further 30%.
Cyprus, with a CAGR of +56.9%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in the European Union stood at $X per unit in 2021, rising by 109% against the previous year. In general, the import price showed a noticeable expansion. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
