Pistachio Market Size in Afghanistan

The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. In that year, pistachio exports attained their peak of X tonnes. From 2017 to 2018, the growth of pistachio exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, pistachio exports totaled $X in 2018. In general, pistachio exports continue to indicate moderate growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. In that year, pistachio exports reached their peak of $X. From 2017 to 2018, the growth of pistachio exports failed to regain its momentum.

Exports by Country

The U.S. was the major exporter of pistachios in the world, with the volume of exports finishing at X tonnes, which was approx. X% of total exports in 2018. It was distantly followed by Iran (X tonnes), mixing up an X% share of total exports. The following exporters - China, Hong Kong SAR (X tonnes), Belgium (X tonnes), Germany (X tonnes) and the Netherlands (X tonnes) - together made up X% of total exports.

The U.S. was also the fastest-growing in terms of the pistachios exports, with a CAGR of +X% from 2007 to 2018. At the same time, Belgium (+X%) and Germany (+X%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, the Netherlands (-X%), Iran (-X%) and China, Hong Kong SAR (-X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. The U.S. (+X p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the global exports, while the Netherlands, Iran and China, Hong Kong SAR saw its share reduced by -X%, -X% and -X% from 2007 to 2018, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

Afghanistan imports peaked in 2018 and are expected to retain its growth in the immediate term.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by X% y-o-y. Afghanistan imports peaked in 2018 and are likely to continue its growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

China, Hong Kong SAR was the largest importer of pistachios in the world, with the volume of imports recording X tonnes, which was near X% of total imports in 2018. Viet Nam (X tonnes) took a X% share (based on tonnes) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Germany (X%) and China (X%). Belgium (X tonnes), Spain (X tonnes), Italy (X tonnes), the Netherlands (X tonnes), Luxembourg (X tonnes), Saudi Arabia (X tonnes) and France (X tonnes) held a relatively small share of total imports.

China, Hong Kong SAR experienced a relatively flat trend pattern of pistachios imports. At the same time, Saudi Arabia (+X%), Spain (+X%), Germany (+X%), Italy (+X%), Belgium (+X%) and China (+X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Saudi Arabia emerged as the fastest-growing importer in the world, with a CAGR of +X% from 2007-2018. Luxembourg and France experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Viet Nam (-X%) and the Netherlands (-X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period.
