Sorghum Price in Romania (FOB) - 2022
The average sorghum export price stood at $329 per ton in 2022, with an increase of 11% against the previous year. In general, export price indicated notable growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, sorghum export price increased by +70.1% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the average export price increased by 54%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the highest price was recorded for prices to Italy ($320 per ton) and Germany ($304 per ton), while the average price for exports to Hungary ($239 per ton) and Poland ($270 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Turkey (+43.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average sorghum import price stood at $445 per ton in 2022, which is down by -78.5% against the previous year. In general, the import price showed a sharp setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when the average import price increased by 47% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $5,109 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($4,665 per ton), while the price for Ukraine ($270 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
