Buckwheat Price in Poland (FOB) - 2023
The average buckwheat export price stood at $919 per ton in June 2023, reducing by -12.4% against the previous month. Overall, the export price recorded a perceptible contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in February 2023 an increase of 13% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $1,348 per ton in June 2022; however, from July 2022 to June 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was Italy ($1,078 per ton), while the average price for exports to Germany ($650 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to France (+0.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Buckwheat Price in Poland (CIF) - 2023
In June 2023, the average buckwheat import price amounted to $531 per ton, shrinking by -4.7% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price saw a noticeable downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in February 2023 an increase of 15% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $929 per ton in June 2022; however, from July 2022 to June 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Lithuania ($660 per ton), while the price for Belarus ($371 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Lithuania (-3.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Buckwheat Exports in Poland
In 2022, shipments abroad of buckwheat decreased by -24.2% to 11K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.1% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 30%.
In value terms, buckwheat exports shrank to $13M in 2022. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 92% against the previous year.
