Sorghum Price in Croatia (CIF) - 2022

The average sorghum import price stood at $3,082 per ton in 2022, falling by -7.4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 87% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $9,382 per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Slovenia ($15,181 per ton), while the price for Germany ($2,472 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Hungary (+16.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Sorghum Price in Croatia (FOB) - 2022

The average sorghum export price stood at $469 per ton in 2022, flattening at the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a deep reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the average export price increased by 1,795%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $8,555 per ton. From 2017 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Slovenia ($473 per ton), while the average price for exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina amounted to $468 per ton.

From 2014 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Bosnia and Herzegovina (+51.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Sorghum Imports in Croatia

In 2022, approx. 65 tons of sorghum were imported into Croatia; with an increase of 21% on the previous year. In general, imports enjoyed a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 128%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, sorghum imports stood at $199K in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +8.8% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +102.6% against 2020 indices.
