Sesame Oil Price in Peru (CIF) - 2022
The average sesame oil import price stood at $2,265 per ton in 2022, which is down by -15.5% against the previous year. In general, the import price saw a noticeable downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 an increase of 56% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $2,760 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($5,637 per ton), while the price for China ($1,909 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (-2.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Sesame Oil Price in Peru (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average sesame oil export price amounted to $3,093 per ton, rising by 11% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a deep downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 160%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $7,778 per ton. From 2018 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Costa Rica ($9,472 per ton), while the average price for exports to Chile ($2,697 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Chile (+6.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Sesame Oil Imports in Peru
In 2022, the amount of sesame oil imported into Peru reduced to 891 tons, which is down by -12.5% compared with the previous year. In general, imports continue to indicate a abrupt descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 34% against the previous year.
In value terms, sesame oil imports reduced dramatically to $2M in 2022. Overall, imports, however, recorded tangible growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 109% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $2.7M, and then dropped significantly in the following year.

Sesame Oil Exports in Peru
In 2022, approx. 11 tons of sesame oil were exported from Peru; growing by 13% on 2021 figures. Overall, total exports indicated a resilient increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +12.5% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports decreased by -10.2% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 59%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 12 tons.
