China Regenerated Cellulose Cellular Plates, Sheets and Films Export Price in September 2022

In September 2022, the regenerated cellulose cellular plates, sheets and films price amounted to $7,463 per ton (FOB, China), rising by 44% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a slight decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2022 an increase of 58% against the previous month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $9,045 per ton. From June 2022 to September 2022, the the average export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was the United States ($14.0 per kg), while the average price for exports to Belgium ($3,058 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Canada (+19.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In September 2022, shipments abroad of cellular plates, sheets and films of regenerated cellulose decreased by -38.1% to 150 tons, falling for the second consecutive month after two months of growth. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a modest increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in June 2022 with an increase of 66% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the exports of cellular plates, sheets and films of regenerated cellulose hit record highs at 246 tons in July 2022; afterwards, it flattened through to September 2022.

In value terms, exports of cellular plates, sheets and films of regenerated cellulose fell to $1.1M (IndexBox estimates) in September 2022. Overall, exports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in June 2022 when exports increased by 33% against the previous month. The exports peaked at 1.4K tons in July 2022; however, from August 2022 to September 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Australia (50 tons) was the main destination for exports of cellular plates, sheets and films of regenerated cellulose from China, with a 33% share of total exports. Moreover, exports of cellular plates, sheets and films of regenerated cellulose to Australia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Belgium (19 tons), threefold. New Zealand (14 tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 9% share.

From January 2022 to September 2022, the average monthly growth rate of volume to Australia was relatively modest. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average monthly rates of exports growth: Belgium (+32.2% per month) and New Zealand (+8.5% per month).

In value terms, Australia ($415K) remains the key foreign market for regenerated cellulose cellular plates, sheets and films exports from China, comprising 37% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the United States ($131K), with a 12% share of total exports. It was followed by New Zealand, with a 9.9% share.

From January 2022 to September 2022, the average monthly growth rate of value to Australia was relatively modest. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average monthly rates of exports growth: the United States (+5.6% per month) and New Zealand (+4.4% per month).
