China PVC Cellular Plates, Sheets and Films Export Price in September 2022

In September 2022, the pvc cellular plates, sheets and films price amounted to $2,077 per ton (FOB, China), with an increase of 6.1% against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2022 when the average export price increased by 10% month-to-month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $2,293 per ton. From March 2022 to September 2022, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($3,384 per ton), while the average price for exports to Puerto Rico ($912 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Malaysia (+3.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In September 2022, shipments abroad of cellular plates, sheets and films of polyymers of vinyl chloride decreased by -9.1% to 31K tons, falling for the second month in a row after two months of growth. Over the period under review, exports showed a perceptible downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in March 2022 with an increase of 78% month-to-month. The exports peaked at 44K tons in January 2022; however, from February 2022 to September 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, exports of cellular plates, sheets and films of polyymers of vinyl chloride contracted to $64M (IndexBox estimates) in September 2022. In general, exports showed a pronounced slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in March 2022 with an increase of 61% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the exports of reached the peak figure at 92K tons in January 2022; however, from February 2022 to September 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

India (5.5K tons), Vietnam (3.4K tons) and Thailand (2.2K tons) were the main destinations of exports of cellular plates, sheets and films of polyymers of vinyl chloride from China, with a combined 36% share of total exports. The United States, Indonesia, Puerto Rico, the Philippines, Mexico, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Brazil, Taiwan (Chinese) and Malaysia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 34%.

From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by the Philippines (with a CAGR of +4.5%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest markets for PVC cellular plates, sheets and films exported from China were Vietnam ($7.2M), India ($6.4M) and the United States ($5.9M), with a combined 30% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, Mexico, Malaysia, South Korea, Puerto Rico, Taiwan (Chinese), Saudi Arabia and Brazil, which together accounted for a further 32%.

Among the main countries of destination, the Philippines, with a CAGR of +5.0%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
