In 2022, approx. 62K tons of persimmons were produced in Taiwan (Chinese); growing by 14% on 2021. In general, production, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the production volume increased by 76%. Persimmon production peaked at 84K tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, production stood at a somewhat lower figure. Persimmon output in Taiwan (Chinese) indicated a relatively flat trend pattern, which was largely conditioned by a relatively flat trend pattern of the harvested area and a relatively flat trend pattern in yield figures.
In value terms, persimmon production rose notably to $249M in 2022 estimated in export price. Over the period under review, the total production indicated a strong increase from 2017 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +8.5% over the last five-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, production decreased by -8.5% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 52% against the previous year. As a result, production reached the peak level of $273M. From 2021 to 2022, production growth remained at a lower figure.

In 2022, approx. 5K ha of persimmons were harvested in Taiwan (Chinese); therefore, remained relatively stable against the previous year. In general, the harvested area showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the harvested area dedicated to persimmon production attained the maximum at 5.2K ha in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the harvested area stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Persimmon Yield in Taiwan (Chinese) - 2022
The average yield of persimmons in Taiwan (Chinese) expanded remarkably to 12 tons per ha in 2022, rising by 14% on 2021 figures. Over the period under review, the yield showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 80% against the previous year. The persimmon yield peaked at 16 tons per ha in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the yield stood at a somewhat lower figure.
