Primary Fiber Crops Price in Vietnam (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average primary fiber crops import price amounted to $1,769 per ton, reducing by -9.8% against the previous year. In general, the import price recorded a slight descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 25%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $2,084 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the highest price was recorded for prices from Australia ($2,080 per ton) and Argentina ($1,911 per ton), while the price for the United States ($1,666 per ton) and India ($1,757 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Argentina (+0.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Primary Fiber Crops Price in Vietnam (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average primary fiber crops export price amounted to $293 per ton, which is down by -11% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a slight decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 25% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $343 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Myanmar ($1,733 per ton), while the average price for exports to Taiwan (Chinese) ($222 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Taiwan (Chinese) (+2.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Primary Fiber Crops Imports in Vietnam
In 2022, overseas purchases of fiber crops (primary) decreased by -3.7% to 1.5M tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 9%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 1.5M tons, and then dropped modestly in the following year.
In value terms, primary fiber crops imports fell to $2.6B in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +2.4% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 36%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $3B, and then contracted in the following year.

Primary Fiber Crops Exports in Vietnam
In 2022, shipments abroad of fiber crops (primary) increased by 8.6% to 85K tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a deep slump.
In value terms, primary fiber crops exports declined modestly to $25M in 2022. Overall, exports, however, recorded a abrupt curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 7.1%.
