Price for Vegetables; Celery (Other than Celeriac), Fresh or Chilled in Egypt (FOB) - 2022

In 2022, the average export price for vegetables; celery (other than celeriac), fresh or chilleds amounted to $1,151 per ton, therefore, remained relatively stable against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.1%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when the average export price increased by 45%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $1,499 per ton. From 2014 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Greece ($1,622 per ton), while the average price for exports to Denmark ($377 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Oman (+7.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, shipments abroad of vegetables; celery (other than celeriac), fresh or chilleds was finally on the rise to reach 54 tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Overall, exports, however, showed a deep slump.

In value terms, exports of vegetables; celery (other than celeriac), fresh or chilleds soared to $63K in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a deep contraction.
