The average import price for tubes, pipes and hollow profiles, of cast iron stood at $1,058 per ton in 2022, waning by -4.5% against the previous year. In general, the import price showed a pronounced downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 an increase of 11%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $1,668 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($2,548 per ton), while the price for Switzerland ($207 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+14.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

For the fourth consecutive year, Sudan recorded growth in supplies from abroad of tubes, pipes and hollow profiles, of cast iron, which increased by 14% to 22K tons in 2022. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +12.6% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, imports of tubes, pipes and hollow profiles, of cast iron expanded sharply to $24M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +7.5% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
