Exports from China decreased at an average annual rate of -1.6% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Romania (+2.7%), Russia (+2.0%) and Mexico (+1.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Romania emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the world, with a CAGR of +2.7% from 2012-2021. Turkey, Spain and Italy experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, India (-1.5%), Germany (-4.9%), Canada (-5.2%), South Korea (-5.8%), Ukraine (-10.1%), the United States (-10.4%) and Japan (-11.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. China (+1.7 p.p.) and Russia (+1.7 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the global exports, while Germany, South Korea, Ukraine, the United States and Japan saw its share reduced by -1.5%, -1.7%, -1.8%, -2.4% and -3.8% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the largest iron or steel pipe and tube supplying countries worldwide were China ($X), Italy ($X) and Germany ($X), with a combined 38% share of global exports. Japan, South Korea, the United States, Russia, Turkey, India, Spain, Canada, Mexico, Romania and Ukraine lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 32%.
Among the main exporting countries, Romania, with a CAGR of +1.7%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

These countries were followed by France, Poland, the Netherlands, Italy, the UK, India, the United Arab Emirates, Belgium, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Kuwait, Russia, Iraq, Singapore, Australia and Malaysia, which together accounted for a further 29%.
