The average import price for onions, shallots, garlic, leeks and other alliaceous vegetables; fresh or chilleds stood at $1,292 per ton in October 2023, increasing by 26% against the previous month. In general, import price indicated a prominent increase from October 2022 to October 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +6.0% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on October 2023 figures, import price for onions, shallots, garlic, leeks and other alliaceous vegetables; fresh or chilleds increased by +26.1% against September 2023 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in January 2023 an increase of 32% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure in October 2023.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In October 2023, the country with the highest price was Albania ($3,449 per ton), while the price for Serbia ($589 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Slovenia (+11.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for onions, shallots, garlic, leeks and other alliaceous vegetables; fresh or chilleds stood at $1,338 per ton in October 2023, reducing by -43.6% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate slight growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in September 2023 when the average export price increased by 73% against the previous month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $2,371 per ton, and then reduced notably in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In October 2023, the country with the highest price was Montenegro ($1,905 per ton), while the average price for exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina amounted to $1,149 per ton.
From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to North Macedonia (+33.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
