Indonesia (X tons) remains the largest leek producing country worldwide, accounting for 26% of total volume. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 25%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X, and then contracted significantly in the following year.
Exports by Country
Belgium (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons) and China (X tons) represented roughly 52% of total exports in 2022. Spain (X tons) took the next position in the ranking, followed by Kyrgyzstan (X tons) and Uzbekistan (X tons). All these countries together held approx. 22% share of total exports. The following exporters - Mexico (X tons), France (X tons) and Turkey (X tons) - together made up 8.7% of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main exporting countries, was attained by Uzbekistan (with a CAGR of +88.7%), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest leek supplying countries worldwide were the Netherlands ($X), Belgium ($X) and China ($X), with a combined 54% share of global exports. Spain, Mexico, France, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkey lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 21%.
Among the main exporting countries, Uzbekistan, with a CAGR of +70.5%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the average leek export price amounted to $X per ton, with a decrease of -21.3% against the previous year. In general, the export price showed a noticeable reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 11% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per ton), while Kyrgyzstan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 17%. Over the period under review, global imports hit record highs at X tons in 2021, and then fell in the following year.
In value terms, leek imports fell to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 30%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. In 2022, Japan (X tons), the United States (X tons) and Germany (X tons) represented the major importer of leeks and other alliaceous vegetables in the world, achieving 40% of total import. In value terms, the largest leek importing markets worldwide were Japan ($X), the United States ($X) and Germany ($X), together accounting for 43% of global imports. France, Spain, Canada, Italy, Vietnam, Malaysia, Poland, Sweden, Kazakhstan and the Czech Republic lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 29%.
In terms of the main importing countries, Vietnam, with a CAGR of +72.0%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the average leek import price amounted to $X per ton, reducing by -11.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 11%. Global import price peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Canada ($X per ton), while Kazakhstan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
