The average import price for nuts, edible; pistachios, fresh or dried, shelleds stood at $15,843 per ton in November 2023, rising by 22% against the previous month. Over the period from November 2022 to November 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.2%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $17,337 per ton in September 2023; however, from October 2023 to November 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In November 2023, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($31,735 per ton), while the price for Syrian Arab Republic ($4,954 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From November 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+10.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for nuts, edible; pistachios, fresh or dried, shelleds stood at $14,798 per ton in November 2023, declining by -9.6% against the previous month. In general, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in June 2023 when the average export price increased by 22% month-to-month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $23,366 per ton. From July 2023 to November 2023, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($34,039 per ton), while the average price for exports to Italy ($11,466 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From November 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Romania (+6.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, overseas purchases of nuts, edible; pistachios, fresh or dried, shelleds decreased by -4.3% to 11K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 19% against the previous year.

The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +6.8% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 23% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $150M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports of remained at a somewhat lower figure.
