The average export price for nuts, edible; macadamia, fresh or dried, in shells stood at $18,020 per ton in 2022, dropping by -25.1% against the previous year. In general, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when the average export price increased by 63% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $24,046 per ton in 2021, and then declined dramatically in the following year.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the highest price was recorded for prices to Spain ($18,339 per ton) and Austria ($18,254 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Netherlands ($16,712 per ton) and Poland ($17,649 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Netherlands (+8.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $16,445 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was South Africa ($11,595 per ton), while the price for Guatemala ($4,863 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+19.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
