The average import price for nuts, edible; almonds, fresh or dried, shelleds stood at $4,906 per ton in September 2023, declining by -9.8% against the previous month. In general, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in July 2023 an increase of 50% m-o-m. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $7,649 per ton. From August 2023 to September 2023, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Germany ($8,745 per ton), while the price for the United States ($3,981 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From December 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+2.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average export price for nuts, edible; almonds, fresh or dried, shelleds amounted to $6,066 per ton, falling by -7.5% against the previous year. In general, export price indicated a modest expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, export price for nuts, edible; almonds, fresh or dried, shelleds decreased by -40.6% against 2015 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when the average export price increased by 33%. The export price peaked at $10,208 per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Estonia ($6,533 per ton), while the average price for exports to Lithuania stood at $5,407 per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Russia (+7.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, overseas purchases of nuts, edible; almonds, fresh or dried, shelleds decreased by -17.1% to 546 tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.8% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 22%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 659 tons, and then contracted dramatically in the following year.

In value terms, imports of nuts, edible; almonds, fresh or dried, shelleds shrank remarkably to $3M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports recorded a perceptible reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 2.5%.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 165%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $1.3M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports of remained at a lower figure.
