In 2022, the average flax, tow and waste import price amounted to $674 per ton, picking up by 17% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a abrupt decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the average import price increased by 26% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $3,311 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($1,245 per ton), while the price for Belarus ($510 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+1.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

In 2022, the average flax, tow and waste export price amounted to $688 per ton, dropping by -24.1% against the previous year. In general, the export price saw a perceptible shrinkage. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $1,202 per ton. From 2016 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
