In December 2022, the average import price for dates, figs, pineapples, avocados, guavas, mangoes and mangosteens; fresh or drieds amounted to $2,487 per ton, remaining stable against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.1%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in January 2022 when the average import price increased by 17% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $2,685 per ton in February 2022; however, from March 2022 to December 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In December 2022, the country with the highest price was Australia ($2,903 per ton), while the price for the Philippines ($1,039 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2021 to December 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Egypt (+8.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average export price for dates, figs, pineapples, avocados, guavas, mangoes and mangosteens; fresh or drieds amounted to $1,493 per ton, with an increase of 2.1% against the previous year. In general, export price indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, export price for dates, figs, pineapples, avocados, guavas, mangoes and mangosteens; fresh or drieds decreased by -7.1% against 2018 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when the average export price increased by 128%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $1,607 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Qatar ($1,553 per ton), while the average price for exports to Turkey totaled $495 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Mauritania (+47.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Over the period under review, imports recorded a perceptible reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 0.3% against the previous year.

In general, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 4.2% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $62M, and then contracted modestly in the following year.
