The average import price for coconut, abaca, ramie and other vegetable textile fibres stood at $968 per ton in July 2023, increasing by 71% against the previous month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $1,847 per ton. From November 2022 to July 2023, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Sri Lanka (+1.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Samoa ($4,162 per ton), while the average price for exports to Cook Islands ($462 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Samoa (+44.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
