Price for Cereals; Millet, Other than Seed in Ghana (CIF) - 2022

In 2022, the average import price for cereals; millet, other than seeds amounted to $664 per ton, reducing by -7.8% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a remarkable increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 80%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $1,087 per ton. From 2018 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.

As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $1,568 per ton. From 2021 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($1,910 per ton), while the average price for exports to Belgium ($548 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the UK (+12.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports of Cereals; Millet, Other than Seed in Ghana

In 2022, overseas purchases of cereals; millet, other than seeds increased by 267% to 442 tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Overall, imports showed a significant increase. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
