In 2022, the average export price for cabbages, cauliflowers, kohlrabi, kale and similar edible brassicas; fresh or chilleds amounted to $2,148 per ton, reducing by -16.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, export price indicated a tangible expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, export price for cabbages, cauliflowers, kohlrabi, kale and similar edible brassicas; fresh or chilleds decreased by -29.4% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the average export price increased by 48% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $3,042 per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was South Africa ($3,177 per ton), while the average price for exports to Somalia ($547 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Somalia (+9.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average import price for cabbages, cauliflowers, kohlrabi, kale and similar edible brassicas; fresh or chilleds amounted to $4,807 per ton, waning by -56.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a pronounced downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when the average import price increased by 51% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $11,108 per ton in 2021, and then declined markedly in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($6,162 per ton), while the price for China totaled $3,728 per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+62.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, approx. 3.5K tons of cabbages, cauliflowers, kohlrabi, kale and similar edible brassicas; fresh or chilleds were exported from Kenya; reducing by -13.7% against the previous year's figure. In general, exports, however, saw a significant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 184%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 4K tons, and then fell in the following year.

In value terms, exports of cabbages, cauliflowers, kohlrabi, kale and similar edible brassicas; fresh or chilleds dropped sharply to $7.5M in 2022. Overall, exports, however, showed buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 196%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $10M, and then reduced dramatically in the following year.
