The average import price for cabbages, cauliflowers, kohlrabi, kale and similar edible brassicas; fresh or chilleds stood at $429 per ton in November 2023, declining by -12.6% against the previous month. In general, the import price continues to indicate a pronounced slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in June 2023 when the average import price increased by 54% against the previous month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $1,083 per ton. From July 2023 to November 2023, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for China.
From November 2022 to November 2023, the rate of growth in terms of prices for China amounted to -4.1% per month.

In November 2023, the average export price for cabbages, cauliflowers, kohlrabi, kale and similar edible brassicas; fresh or chilleds amounted to $1,391 per ton, with an increase of 7.8% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in January 2023 an increase of 17% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $1,540 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to November 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major external markets. In November 2023, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($1,827 per ton), while the average price for exports to Hong Kong SAR ($1,227 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From November 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Malaysia (+1.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

For the third consecutive year, Japan recorded decline in purchases abroad of cabbages, cauliflowers, kohlrabi, kale and similar edible brassicas; fresh or chilleds, which decreased by -40.2% to 13K tons in 2022. Overall, imports continue to indicate a dramatic slump. The smallest decline of -5.4% was in 2020.
In value terms, imports of cabbages, cauliflowers, kohlrabi, kale and similar edible brassicas; fresh or chilleds contracted notably to $9.6M in 2022. In general, imports saw a dramatic contraction. The smallest decline of -11.8% was in 2020.
