The average import price for cabbages, cauliflowers, kohlrabi, kale and similar edible brassicas; fresh or chilleds stood at $649 per ton in 2022, with an increase of 7.7% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.3%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 11% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Spain ($1,435 per ton), while the price for Saudi Arabia ($415 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Saudi Arabia (+4.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for cabbages, cauliflowers, kohlrabi, kale and similar edible brassicas; fresh or chilleds stood at $4,868 per ton in 2022, waning by -21.4% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the average export price increased by 130% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $6,196 per ton in 2021, and then fell dramatically in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Saudi Arabia ($9,572 per ton), while the average price for exports to Kuwait ($2,642 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Saudi Arabia (+45.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

For the third consecutive year, Bahrain recorded decline in overseas purchases of cabbages, cauliflowers, kohlrabi, kale and similar edible brassicas; fresh or chilleds, which decreased by -6.2% to 6.1K tons in 2022. Overall, imports continue to indicate a deep contraction. The smallest decline of -5.8% was in 2021.
In value terms, imports of cabbages, cauliflowers, kohlrabi, kale and similar edible brassicas; fresh or chilleds amounted to $3.9M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.8% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 4.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports of reached the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

In 2022, shipments abroad of cabbages, cauliflowers, kohlrabi, kale and similar edible brassicas; fresh or chilleds decreased by -1.2% to 12 tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Overall, total exports indicated a strong expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +13.3% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports decreased by -3.9% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 52%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 13 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports of remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, exports of cabbages, cauliflowers, kohlrabi, kale and similar edible brassicas; fresh or chilleds declined dramatically to $61K in 2022.
