In October 2023, the average import price for buckwheat, millet and canary seed; other cerealses amounted to $407 per ton, shrinking by -36.6% against the previous month. In general, the import price continues to indicate a perceptible shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in July 2023 when the average import price increased by 76% month-to-month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $1,337 per ton. From August 2023 to October 2023, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for Ukraine.

The average export price for buckwheat, millet and canary seed; other cerealses stood at $796 per ton in October 2023, reducing by -6.8% against the previous month. In general, export price indicated slight growth from October 2022 to October 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.3% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on October 2023 figures, export price for buckwheat, millet and canary seed; other cerealses decreased by +0.8% against August 2023 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in December 2022 an increase of 49% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $1,412 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to October 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Belarus ($1,566 per ton), while the average price for exports to North Macedonia ($617 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Belarus (+79.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
