Plum and Sloe Price in South Africa (FOB) - 2022
The average plum and sloe export price stood at $1,185 per ton in 2022, with a decrease of -8.1% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 21% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $1,401 per ton. From 2015 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the highest price was recorded for prices to Malaysia ($1,434 per ton) and Saudi Arabia ($1,382 per ton), while the average price for exports to the UK ($1,181 per ton) and the United States ($1,205 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+16.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
