Which Country Exports the Most Plums And Sloes in the World?

Global plum and sloe exports amounted to 629 thousand tonnes in 2015, moving up by +8.6% against the previous year level. Overall, the global plum and sloe exports indicated a pronounced growth from 2007 to 2015. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.1% over the last eight years.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2011, when the output figure increased by +9% from the previous year level. Over the period under review, the global plum and sloe exports attained its maximum volume of 660 thousand tonnes in 2013. From 2014 to 2015, the total plum and sloe exports growth failed to regain its strength.

In value terms, global exports amounted to $681 million in 2015. Overall, the value of global exports increased tangibly from 2007 to 2015, expanding at an average annual rate of +2.2%. This trend pattern, however, indicated relatively mild fluctuations throughout the analyzed period.

Plum And Sloe Imports By Country

The countries with the highest levels of the plum and sloe exports in 2015 were Spain (109 thousand tonnes), Chile (97 thousand tonnes), South Africa (72 thousand tonnes), together accounting for 44% of total exports.

From 2007 to 2015, the most notable growth rates of plum and sloe exports among the main exporting countries was attained by South Africa (+6.5% per year), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Chile (133 million USD), Spain (119 million USD) and South Africa (81 million USD) were the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2015, together accounting for 49% of total exports.

China (+47.3% per year) had the highest growth rates of plum and sloe exports among the main exporting countries over the last eight years, while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
