Which Country Imports the Most Plums and Sloes in the World?

Global plum and sloe imports amounted to 605 thousand tonnes in 2015, standing approx. at the previous year level.Overall, the global plum and sloe imports indicated a pronounced growth from 2007 to 2015. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.3% over the last eight years.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2011, when the output figure increased by +14% from the previous year level. Over the period under review, the global plum and sloe imports attained its maximum volume of 683 thousand tonnes in 2013. From 2014 to 2015, the total plum and sloe imports growth failed to regain its strength.

In value terms, global plum and sloe imports amounted to $795 million in 2015. Overall, the value of global plum and sloe imports increased robustly from 2007 to 2015, expanding at an average annual rate of +2.2%. This trend pattern, however, indicated relatively mild fluctuations throughout the analyzed period.

Plum And Sloe Imports By Country

The countries with the highest levels of the plum and sloe imports in 2015 were Russia (61 thousand tonnes), the United Kingdom (49 thousand tonnes), Germany (47 thousand tonnes), together accounting for 26% of total imports.

From 2007 to 2015, the most notable growth rates of plum and sloe imports among the main importing countries was attained by China (+15.7% per year), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, China (106 million USD), the United Kingdom (73 million USD) and the United States (60 million USD) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2015, together accounting for 30% of total imports.

China (+30.7% per year) had the highest growth rates of plum and sloe imports among the main importing countries over the last eight years, while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
