Non-Combined Refrigerator-Freezer Price in China (FOB) - 2023
In August 2023, the average non-combined refrigerator-freezer export price amounted to $78.8 per unit, falling by -4.9% against the previous month. In general, the export price recorded a perceptible shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in November 2022 when the average export price increased by 4.5% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $101 per unit in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to August 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($166 per unit), while the average price for exports to Mexico ($76.4 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Brazil (+2.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Non-Combined Refrigerator-Freezer Price in China (CIF) - 2023
The average non-combined refrigerator-freezer import price stood at $1,106 per unit in September 2023, increasing by 32% against the previous month. In general, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in March 2023 an increase of 46% against the previous month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $1,340 per unit; afterwards, it flattened through to September 2023.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Austria ($2,311 per unit), while the price for Spain ($480 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (+8.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Non-Combined Refrigerator-Freezer Exports in China
In 2022, overseas shipments of household refrigerators and freezers (not combined) decreased by -19.9% to 37M units, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.6% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when exports increased by 41%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 46M units. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, non-combined refrigerator-freezer exports reduced dramatically to $3.6B in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +7.5% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 31%. The exports peaked at $4.4B in 2021, and then fell rapidly in the following year.
