Mandarins Price in Hong Kong SAR (CIF) - 2023

The average mandarins import price stood at $1,588 per ton in June 2023, falling by -28.2% against the previous month. In general, import price indicated a mild expansion from June 2022 to June 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.2% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on June 2023 figures, mandarins import price decreased by -41.1% against February 2023 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in November 2022 an increase of 46% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $2,695 per ton in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to June 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Japan ($14,111 per ton), while the price for South Africa ($1,262 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Egypt (+17.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average mandarins export price stood at $1,425 per ton in 2022, shrinking by -3.6% against the previous year. Overall, export price indicated a resilient expansion from 2017 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.4% over the last five-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, mandarins export price decreased by -8.2% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the average export price increased by 37%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $1,553 per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was China ($1,431 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Philippines stood at $1,264 per ton.

From 2017 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to China (+5.6%).
